Key Features
ExactApplyTM Dust Suppression
The 8R SweepReady adapts John Deere's ExactApply nozzle technology for precision dust control. The Pulse Width Modulation system individually controls 28 nozzles across the main broom and gutter brooms, maintaining consistent droplet size regardless of sweeping speed and reducing water consumption by up to 37 percent compared to conventional constant-flow systems.
Turn compensation automatically adjusts spray rates when sweeping around curves or obstacles, preventing over-application on the inside of turns and eliminating dry spots on the outside.
AutoTracTM GPS Lane Following
The system integrates with John Deere's StarFire RTK-GPS receiver and AutoTrac steering to achieve plus/minus 1-inch pass-to-pass accuracy on pre-mapped routes. Operators set up sweeping AB lines in the John Deere Operations Center mobile app, and the tractor handles steering, throttle, and brush engagement automatically.
Active Implement Guidance with Follow Track mode ensures the sweeper attachment follows the exact path of the tractor's rear wheels, eliminating the uncleaned-strip problem common with tow-behind systems.
Operations Center Analytics
All sweeping data syncs automatically to JDLink connectivity and appears in a new Sweeping Efficiency Dashboard inside John Deere Operations Center.
Tracked metrics include:
- Square footage cleaned per hour
- Water usage per 1,000 sq. ft.
- Brush wear indicators with estimated remaining life
- Debris load weight estimates via hydraulic pressure sensors
- Route overlap percentage with a target below 3 percent
Power & Performance
The 8R SweepReady is compatible with all 8R Series models from 230 to 540 horsepower, though John Deere recommends the 8R 440 for most municipal applications. The tractor's hydraulic system delivers more than enough flow to run a 96-inch main broom, dual 36-inch gutter brooms, and a 450 CFM debris conveyor simultaneously.
A 3.5-cubic-yard hopper mounts between the rear duals, with a high-lift dump cylinder that empties into standard 40-yard roll-offs at 14 feet. An optional debris compactor increases effective capacity to 5 cubic yards for light, bulky material such as leaves and plastic bags.
Pricing & Availability
The 8R SweepReady conversion kit carries an MSRP of $127,500, including the mounting frame, quick-coupler hydraulics, 96-inch main broom, dual floating gutter brooms, ExactApply dust suppression kit, AutoTrac activation license, JDLink module, and a one-year analytics subscription.
Installation must be performed at an authorized John Deere dealer by factory-certified technicians. Turnkey pricing, including installation, operator training, and first-year maintenance, is expected to run $145,000 to $160,000 depending on tractor configuration and local labor rates.
Industry Reaction
Early access trials conducted in three Midwest municipalities during Q4 2025 reportedly showed parking lots being cleaned 2.3 times faster than with dedicated sweepers, while cutting water usage by 37 percent and reducing route overlap from 8.5 percent to 2.1 percent.
Potential Downsides
- Proprietary service tools – Brush adjustments, nozzle calibrations, and hydraulic diagnostics require Service ADVISOR software and an annual subscription.
- Exclusive dealer network – Only a limited number of Deere dealers are certified for SweepReady installation and service.
- Software update issues – A March 2026 firmware rollout temporarily disabled AutoTrac on pilot units when the system detected non-certified broom wear patterns.
- Parts bottleneck – Replacement brushes, nozzles, and conveyor belts are only available through John Deere Parts Online.
